THE FOUNDATION
The Broken Heel Foundation (formerly the M.I.L.K. Foundation) was founded in November 2002 to promote the values of love, family, friendship and to donate to organizations promoting these values.
In November 2017, the foundation obtained articles of an amendment to add an activity of micro-financing to help women with children living under poverty, to start a small business.
THE MISSION
Alleviate poverty in Canada and around the world by running a microfinance program for single-parent women living below the poverty line who want to start a small business.

THE GOALS
The objectives of the community enterprise are to provide women with sufficient remuneration to meet the basic needs of the family and to support the education of children and thus break the cycle of poverty.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Council members approve the eligibility of projects and its beneficiaries,
loan conditions and project implementation costs.​

The Foundation has no employees and pays no remuneration to its directors.

Guy Bélanger
President of the Broken Heel Foundation and founder of Heelium.

Born in Montreal, Canada, he worked for more than 25 years as an entrepreneur, selling and distributing consumer products internationally. Guy has an academic background in administration and accounting. In his early days, he worked in professional practice for over 10 years and 3 years in banking.

Dr. Elizabeth Tremblay
Doctor at the
Montreal CHUM.

Born in Quebec, Canada, Elizabeth is currently working at the University Hospital of Montreal. She is currently completing her internships to become a gynecologist-obstetrician.

Thierry Lacroix
Entrepreneur now retired.
​
Born in Montreal, Canada, Thierry is a career entrepreneur until retirement. Writing is now part of this new chapter of life.
Thierry and Guy have been friends since their teenage years.

Marie-Li Crête
Founder & president
of Minbøk.
Raised in Montreal, Canada, Marie-Li completed her studies in administration at the HEC in Montreal in 2014.

Paule Bourbonnais
Paule graduated from UQAM in environmental design. Her studies have opened up her horizons and her creative sensitivity.
Paule opened in 1995 her interior design consultancy office, Paule Bourbonnais design.
Nominated for the prestigious Competition “Commerce Design Montreal” for various projects, she has become a reference among fashion designers and other creators for their commercial interior design. Her works are published repeatedly in the media.
Paule is also the co-founder of * reference design, a video production company. She is associated in this project with the father of her two daughters, Olivier Hétu.
